POLICE have called off their hunt for an alleged knifeman in the Appleton area of Warrington – after establishing no offence took place.
It had been alleged on Monday this week (September 9) that a 13-year-old boy had been approached by a man with a knife whilst traveling to school in the Appleton area.
However, following a thorough investigation it has now been established that no offences have took place.
Officers will be speaking to the boy involved and would like to thank the public for all of the support that they have provided throughout the investigation.

Reading between the lines the comments of ‘no offences have taken place’ and ‘officers will be speaking to the boy involved’ imply that the young lad who said he had ‘allegedly’ been confronted by someone with a knife was telling lies. If this is the case I hope he realises what a scare he has caused within the local community to both residents and parents who have been very concerned re their childs safety going to and from school and even playing out and their own safety…not to mention a complete waste of police time. Of course maybe I am reading it wrong…..
