THE chairman of the House of Commons Education Select Committee dropped in on a Warrington school to see for themselves the success of a computer project.
Barry Sheerman MP was invited to Alderman Bolton Primary School by Warrington South MP Helen Southworth.
Headteacher Lyndsey Glass, took the pair into classrooms so they could see for themselves the success of the project to ensure children in the school have their own hand-held computer to work on during school hours and to take home.
Alderman Bolton School is in a pilot project, along with five other schools in the borough. Funding is through The E-Learning Foundation, the schools involved and parents.
Mrs Southworth (pictured) said: “Barry Sheerman and I were greatly impressed by the level of engagement the children had with their lessons. They were keen to show us how they could access sites for research and incorporate the information into their written work. “It is so important that all children are computer-literate in this day and age. This pilot project is important in ensuring local children know how to use computers and access the internet to learn.”
