A taste of Hilden in Warrington

SHOPPERS in Warrington can sample some of the delights of German twin-town Hilden until tomorrow (Saturday).
Six traders from Hilden Market are setting up stall to take part in the Warrington Market Christmas Showcase, in the Old Fish Market, Golden Square – part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the partnership arrangements between the two towns.
Just some of the delights on offer from the Hilden traders are Pils German, pale draft beer; Glühwein, red hot spiced wine; Weihnachtskekse, Christmas cookies;
Currywurst, grilled white pork sausage with curried tomato sauce; Krakauer, grilled red pork sausage.
The Hilden visitors will also be exchanging ideas and practices with Warrington Market traders to help further build relations between the two towns.
The market showcase itself will be promoting many of the established businesses from the indoor market, and is just one of the attractions set to entice shoppers and visitors into the town centre this Christmas.
There will also be plenty of family entertainment and an appearance by the market’s Christmas Gorilla – who always goes bananas at this time of year!
The Market Showcase is open from 9am to 9pm today, from 9am to 6pm tomorrow (Friday) and from 9am to 6pm on Saturday.
Coun Keith Bland, deputy leader of the borough council and chairman of the international partnerships task group, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Hilden traders to Warrington this Christmas, and by taking part in the market showcase they are adding yet another fantastic dimension to this year’s line up of activities for the town centre.”
