St Rocco’s Colour Run is sell out success

THE unpredictable August sun shone brightly on a sell out 800 participants at St Rocco’s 3km Colour Run at Walton Hall.

Registration fees covered all set-up costs and the thousands of pounds in sponsorship raised will be spent on patient care at St Rocco’s Hospice.

The prevailing colour at the start was white but many participants of all ages wore tutus, bandanas, headbands, sun visors and all were given colourful sunglasses.

Prior to the run, the Chris O’Grady Road Show provided musical entertainment and Sharon Banister from Livewire Warrington led the warm-up just prior to the start when the participants showered one another with colour paints.

The Mayor, Cllr Faisal Rashid counted down to the start of the run after a welcome from hospice chief executive Pam Massey.

Around the course wending its way through the beautiful grounds of Walton Gardens there were four more colour stations where further paints were aimed at the runners and walkers!

After the event, Chair of St Rocco’s, Norman Banner who again took part in the Colour Run with his son Edward said, “I am always amazed at the immense generosity of the people of Warrington and district. They give so much of their time and their money to help St Rocco’s Hospice. And the volunteers, too. Wow, words fail me! On behalf of the hospice I thank them all.”

  1. I spoke to a lot of people of all ages around here yesterday and whole families including young kids who had just completed the colour run and were on their way home. So lovely to see how proud some of the kids were to be sporting their medals too 😀 Every single person said how much fun it had been and all were covered head to foot in a rainbow of colours I hope it all washed out of their hair and clothes and off their skin though ha ha.
    Well done everyone 😀 😀
