Creamfields- the good, the bad and the ugly!

THE annual Creamfields event at Daresbury has come to an end leaving mixed feelings across Warrington following four days of music involving around 70,000 revellers.

While many have welcomed the biggest event of its kind in Cheshire, which provides a welcome boost to the local economy, many have also complained about noise and traffic problems and the drug related issues associated with the event.

Noise problems have not been as bad as in previous years, with organisers sound proofing huge marquees erected on the site. But depending on the wind directions, complaints about the noise levels have been made from across the Warrington area.

Within the first 24 hours of the event a total of 28 arrests were made, mainly for drug related offences, 26 for supplying Class A drugs.

There has also tragically been one fatality with various other medical incidents.

One officer who policed the event said: “After spending two days at Creamfields I don’t understand how the event is allowed to be on.

“It is more of a drugs festival than a music festival and you have to thank the St John’s Ambulance people who work hard to deal with lots of idiots who take things they shouldn’t.”

Local residents have also complained about festival goers using their gardens as public toilets.

There has also been heavy traffic congestion in the area.

The event has been taking place at Daresbury since 2006 and some residents who have been affected each year are now calling for it to move on.

As the event was ending today police were advising motorists to avoid the Daresbury area if possible due to heavy traffic congestion.

  1. Interesting that a officer who policed the event is quoted as saying: “After spending two days at Creamfields I don’t understand how the event is allowed to be on. It is more of a drugs festival than a music festival and you have to thank the St John’s Ambulance people who work hard to deal with lots of idiots who take things they shouldn’t’.

Some youngsters I now (in their 20’s) bought the full 4 day camping tickets ie Thurs – Monday but came out a day early as they were sick to death of being hounded in there by people wanting to sell them drugs.

Now the question is, in my mind, if everyone going in was checked for drugs how on earth were there so many drugs in there? How did the sniffer dogs and other searches (including strip searches for some) not pick up on them etc? Or was it perhaps that people were selling other medications or substances crushed down which to the unsuspecting buyer looked like the real thing which they in turn were then taking…..that is perhaps even more dangerous than taking what they think they are taking.

  2. Rumour has it that things were buried on site well before the event was set up, but new technology makes it easier to do a drugs drop…..ie, drones!!

    • I’ve heard rumors before that things are buried on site well before but didn’t know if that was true or not. Makes your think though that if was there still could be stuff buried there. As for drones, yes maybe, but surely stuff would have to be dropped in before it all starts and 70+ thousand people are in other wise the dealers wouldn’t be the ones catching it or do you mean just dropped in at the outer perimeters? I guess your probably did…and that does make sense and could easily be done 🙁
