PUPILS from four Warrington high schools came together in a celebration of the study of modern foreign languages.
The Year 10 pupils from Birchwood, Sir Thomas Boteler, Cardinal Newman and Culcheth high schools visited the Pyramid Centre to see a play completely performed in French by the Onatti Theatre Company.
Organised by Priestley College on behalf of the Warrington 14-19 Learning Partnership, the play, entitled Cache-Cache, used a narrative ideally suited to the students who are studying for their GCSEs.
As well as learning about the language, the pupils were also given an insight into many other issues affecting their age group, including bullying.
They also learned key areas of vocabulary including talking about hobbies, clothing, food and directions.
The play was the sixth offering in French from the touring company, many of which have now been watched by a range of different schools across the borough, thanks to the blossoming relationship between Priestley and local high schools.
Head of languages at Priestley, Carol Mtitimila, commented: “Cache-Cache was a fabulous performance and I continue to be impressed by the standard of these productions.
“There was a real buzz in the theatre as the school pupils were persuaded to be involved in the story line and I’m sure they departed with a new found excitement for learning modern foreign languages.”
