NOMINATIONS are being invited for Cheshire’s most prestigious business accolade – the High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise.
Firms in Warrington, Halton and the rest of the county are entitled to enter the competition which offers thousands of pounds worth of prizes.
The winner and two runners-up will be announced at a glittering ceremony next March at the University of Chester.
Now in its third year, the High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise has attracted support from a whole host of regional and international sponsors, which recognise the spirit of enterprise and development in Cheshire.
Thanks to significant contributions from sponsors including, Barclays Bank, Cheshire County Council, Warrington Borough Council, Halton Borough Council, Northwest Development Agency, University of Chester, Cheshire and Warrington Economic Alliance, and Business Link Northwest, the High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise represents one of the highest values of any competition of its kind in the country.
High Sheriff Alastair Stoddart said: “Since the award was founded in 2006, it has recognised some exceptional businesses which encapsulate the spirit of enterprise and entrepreneurship in the region. It is hoped that we can build on the success of past events to make this year’s High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise the most successful yet.”
The winning company will receive a free place for one of its managers on the award-winning MBA programme at the University of Chester (worth £8,000). Cash prizes of £4,000 and £2,000 will be awarded to businesses in second and third place respectively.
The award, which recognises successful businesses in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington, highlights outstanding achievement by local private sector companies with a turnover of at least £500,000 and between 10 and 250 employees.
Judged on ambition, innovation, growth, enterprise, employee and management development, the entrants will also be required to explain the way in which they will ensure their company continues to expand in the future.
To nominate a business complete the online application form available from www.chester.ac.uk/highsheriff
Entrants are welcome to include other information to support their entry, for example, accounts or business brochures.
The closing date for entries is December 15, 2008. All entries should be sent to the Faculty of Business, Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, University of Chester, Parkgate Road, Chester CH1 4BJ, clearly marked “High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise 2008”.
