Planning bosses to study extension plan

COUNCILLORS at Warrington are to visit a detached house where the occupier wants to build front and rear extensions before deciding if the scheme can go ahead.
The plan involves a house in Mitton Close, Culcheth and has resulted in objections from two neighbours and a local councillor.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee were told the proposed two storey extensions would allow the creation of an enlarged lounge and extended third bedroom at the front and an enlarged lounge/kitchen/ding room and extended second bedroom at the rear.
Officers recommended the plan be approved but, after hearing that two neighbours believed the extensions would be “dominant and intrusive” and result in a loss of privacy, councillors decided to go and see the situation for themselves.
They also heard that Cllr Jacqui Johnson, of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council, felt the massing, roofline and closeness of the rear extension would have an unacceptable impact on neighbours on both sides of the house.
The application has been deferred to the next meeting of the committee on August 17 to allow the site visit to take place.
