WARRINGTON Wolves are spreading their net even further in their goal to bring the best junior talent to the club with a new “head of talent” for the Yorkshire region.
Director of Youth Development, John Bastian, has appointed Tommy Gleeson to the new post.
Tommy will report to the Head of Youth Recruitment Peter Farrell and will be in charge of identifying talent in
Yorkshire. The Wolves are pro-actively looking at signing top class juniors from Yorkshire for their highly respected scholarship and academy setup.
Explaining why the club is now looking further afield for young talent John said: “Tommy’s appointment helps us to expand our scouting network. Identifying top juniors all over the UK is a crucial area for the club going forward.
The talent I.D system will allow us to identify juniors with the right personal attributes to be successful in a highly professional sporting environment.
“Principally we want to develop talent from Warrington and the surrounding area. However, Tommy’s appointment will allow us to recruit from other areas as well.”
Tommy added:“We’re not looking for Mr Average, Mr Good or Mr Very Good we are looking for ‘The Best’. I’m relishing the challenge in helping making Warrington the No 1 club for junior talent.”
Tommy joins after four years in a similar role at Wigan Warriors and before that was Academy coach at both Leeds and Castleford respectively.
