Town bow out of Senior Cup

WARRINGTON Town bowed out of the

Liverpool Senior Cup last night as they were eventually overcome 3-1 by regional

conference outfit Burscough.
Town showed plenty of early promise as new signing Chris Gaghan scored a stunning individual goal as he waltzed through the Burscough defence to fire home into the roof of the net.
But as the game progressed Burscough, who play two leagues above Town, started to show their pedigree as Warrington just about held on to their slender lead until the break.
But the second half was almost one way traffic as the visitors started to dominate hitting the bar with a long range effort.
Three goals in the space of seven minutes settled the tie but to their credit Town didn’t drop their heads and will be looking to bounce back with their FA trophy second qualifying round visit to Romulus in the midlands on Sunday, kick off 2pm.
