Festival organisers bid to beat the credit crunch!

ORGANISERS of a village’s annual Christmas Dickensian day are appealing for support to help beat the credit crunch.
Lymm Dickensian Day is set to take place on Saturday December 13 and organisers are concerned it will not get the normal level of support due to the down turn in the economy.
But there are already waiting lists for stalls on the day which usually attracts over 7,000 visitors to the village,
making it one of the busiest days of the year for local traders.
Local charities raise more than £15,000 thanks to the event, which costs in the region of £8,000 to stage.
One of the organisers, local Rotarian Mike Evans said: “To achieve our objectives it is important that we at the very
least obtain the same level of support from traders and local businesses as we had last year and hopefully a little bit more. But I realise some traders may be concerned by the economic doom and gloom.
“But this is a great opportunity to generate extra business for everyone in the village.
“There are also still some traders in the village, who for various reasons, find themselves unable to support the event and that is unfortunate and not really fair for those who do.
“Every business supporter, whether it be by an advert in the programme, financial sponsorship or assistance in another way, will be acknowledged by an eye catching window poster, a prominent listing on the sponsors page of the programme, so it will be obvious to the community who is giving their support to one of the favourite events in the local caldendar.
“A big thank you to all those who support the event – it really is appreciated. This is a great opportunity for traders to beat the credit crunch.”
Local schools will take part in a fancy dress parade leaving the Lymm Hotel at 1.30pm while traders in the village are being encouraged to enter into the spirit of occasion by dressing up in period costume.
