TORIES in North Warrington are claiming a 30 per cent increase in membership since the Referendum – and believe this is a sign of people wanting to get more involved in politics.
A spokesman for Warrington North Conservative Association said: “Since the Referendum, we have seen our membership in the constituency boosted by an increase of 30 per cent.
“We put this down to a new feeling in the country of people wanting to re-engage in politics and what is happening in their community.
“We welcome all our new members and look forward to welcoming many more in the coming days and weeks.”
In the meantime, the association has sent its congratulations to Theresa May on becoming leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister.
The spokesman added: “This has been a busy week with changes coming very fast. We believe this will give the party the unity it needs after Brexit and the stability needed for the country.”
