WARRINGTON Town Hall’s flag is to fly at half-mast until Monday evening in tribute to the victims of the attack in the French city of Nice.
The flag was being flown from 12 noon today as a mark of respect to those who lost their lives and were injured in the attack.
At least 84 people were killed, and many more injured in the atrocity, which took place yesterday during France’s national Bastille Day celebrations.
Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Faisal Rashid, said: “We are shocked and filled with sadness over these terrible events. It hurts us all to see so many innocent lives being lost due to such a senseless act.
“I speak on behalf of the people of Warrington in sending our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this atrocity. We are flying our flag at half-mast as a symbol of our support for France, and for all the innocent victims of such attacks, throughout the world. We will continue to stand in solidarity against all acts of hatred and terror.”
