FOUR people were arrested for drugs offences in Warrington town centre in an operation mounted by Special Constables.
It was the second operation mounted by “Specials” within the last few weeks to target suspected drugs offenders.
The part-time officers were in plain clothes and worked alongside colleagues from the Warrington Town Centre

Neighbourhood Policing Unit.
They arrested four people on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs.
The officers patrolled the town’s main streets on foot and acted on any intelligence that was provided in relation to drugs.
Inspector Richard Reeves,in charge of Warrington Town Centre NPU, said the operation showed the valuable contribution members of the Special Constabulary were making in the town.
He said: “We have formed a strong partnership with members of the Special Constabulary and operations like this are helping us to target individuals who think they can flout the law and get away with it.
“Our proactive approach to dealing with drug use in the town centre means that we are arresting more people for this type of crime. There is no evidence to suggest that offences involving drugs are increasing – the figures reflect our proactive approach and the fact that we are identifying and arresting more offenders.
“We hope that this operation reinforces the message that drug use will not be tolerated in Warrington town centre and that we will take positive action against anyone found to be involved in the use or supply of drugs.”
A further 13 people were arrested by regular police officers over the course of the weekend (from Friday evening to Sunday evening). They were for a variety of offences including assault, public order and affray.
