TWO members of staff suffered the effects of smoke inhalation after fire broke out at a private hospital in Warrington last night.
The blaze was at St Mary’s Hospital, off Winwick Road and is believed to have been deliberately started in a patient’s bedroom.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with a hosereel jet and damage was restricted to the one room. A ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the premises.
The two staff members were taken to Warrington Hospital for treatment, but were not seriously harmed.
