Warrington MP – once bitten twice shy!

MP Helen Jones – who knows what it’s like to get bitten by a dog – is supporting Royal Mail Dog Awareness Week.
The idea is to raise awareness of the issue of dog attacks on postmen and women and promote responsible dog ownership.
The Warrington North MP said: “As many as seven postmen and women are attacked across the UK each working day.
“I know myself how painful a dog bite can be having suffered an attack whilst out campaigning during last year’s General Election.  I will be promoting Royal Mail’s responsible dog ownership campaign and their five top tips for dog owners.”
The five tips are:
*Ensure your dog is out of the way before the postman or woman arrives.
*Keep your dog in another room before answering the door and make sure children don’t open the door to the postman.
*Give your dog some food or a toy to occupy them while the mail is being delivered.
*Invest in a letter cage or an external letterbox.
*Ensure your dog is microchipped, wearing a collar and tag, and that your contact details on the tag and microchip are up to date.
