Pupils given a voice on the future

0

PUPILS from five schools took part in the first Learner Voice Conference at Warrington Town Hall – to identify how they could have a positive impact on the future of one of the town’s newer communities.
Birchwood High School hosted the event attended also by pupils from Birchwood CE Primary, Locking Stumps Primary, Gorse Covert Primary and Fox Wood Special School.
Students from Warrington’s Priestley College assisted and acted as facilitators throughout the day.
They all worked with organisations from the Birchwood community to help share the area’s future.
The event culminated in a presentation by each of the groups. Having identified a number of issues within the community of Birchwood that they felt they could impact upon, the groups decided upon some actions they wanted to see undertaken during the coming year by themselves, within their schools and the organisations that took part, to bring about change.
