Drumming up support for police band

POLICE are drumming up support for their band – and are looking for volunteers from the Warrington area.
Volunteers are needed for the Corps of Drums and the band’s musical director, Inspector Dave Woollam, is urging volunteers to get in touch.
He said: “The Corps is a real focal point on our parades and we also intend to include them in our concert programmes. We currently have three side-drummers but would like more.
“We are looking for side drummers; perhaps those with experience in the military or the cadet forces, who would like to join a smart, committed band. Band members come from all walks of life and you don’t have to be employed by Cheshire Police to join.”
The band has increased its programme of public engagements over the past two years. It now performs across Cheshire and further afield.
Inspector Woollam added: “We have just arranged a series of concerts in Cheshire schools from 2009 onward. We practice at Cheshire Police headquarters in Winsford once a week but can vary the practice day to suit people’s work patterns. We certainly make new members feel very welcome.”
Anyone who is interested in joining the band and wants more information can contact Dave Woollam on 01244 613349 or by email on [email protected]
