WARRINGTON police have arrested four people on suspicion of possession of a Psychoactive Substance with Intent to Supply – formerly known as “legal highs.”

The three males and one female were arrested near the large B&Q store at Winwick last night.

Two officers attended the scene and made four arrests – two people stood by the car and two people in it.

A large quantity of Psychoactive Substances were alleged to be found in the vehicle and on two males.

A later search of an address of two of those arrested allegedly revealed the presence of a large quantity of the same substances.

The vehicle, a quantity of cash and the substances have been seized.

Police say they will continue to robustly target any reports of the selling or supply of these substances, that are now illegal.

A police spokesperson said: “This is a notable success and will no doubt set the tone for how we intend to enforce this legislation.”
