1

TWO fire crews from Warrington were called out to tackle a wooden jetty fire on the Manchester Ship canal earlier today after being alerted by a ship’s captain.

The incident at 7.16 am  involved a wooden jetty near Moore Lane. The fire crews had to gain access to the site by cutting a padlock on a gate after being alerted by a passing ship’s captain.

They then put out the fire using a hose reel jet.
