Veteran MP visits Birchwood to back Remain campaign

FORMER Home Secretary Alan Johnson MP visited Birchwood, Warrington today as part of the “Labour IN for Britain” campaign.

He joined Labour’s Chris Vobe, David Keane, Amanda King, Morgan Tarr, Diana Bennett, Hilary Cooksey and Joan Grime to spend time talking to shoppers in Birchwood Shopping Centre about the importance of a “Remain” vote on June 23.

The Hull based MP served as Home Secretary from June 2009 to May 2010. Before that, he filled a wide variety of cabinet positions in both the Blair and Brown governments, including Health Secretary and Education Secretary.
