VETERAN  councillor Frank Pennington has been officially installed as Frodsham’s first Freeman.
He was installed at a special meeting of the Town Council at Frodsham Community Centre.
Cllr Pennington, who represents the Waterside ward, has been a member of the council for 40 years and was the town’s first Mayor.
The current Mayor, Cllr Mallie Poulton, presented him with is Freeman’s badge and also a badge recognising the fact that he had also been the town’s first Mayor, in 1992, when the former parish became a town.
A special cake was cut to mark the occasion and Cllr Pennington’s wife was presented with a bouquet.
Cllr Pennington is the longest serving member of the council and, at 81, the oldest.
The Freedom of Frodsham has only been bestowed once previously – and that was to the Frodsham branch of the Royal British Legion
