A MAJOR youth festival combining fun, sport and learning will take place at Culcheth on Saturday October 4.
The event is the brain child of David Slater, recently appointed community youth co-ordinator for Culcheth, Croft and Glazebury who organising the day with Culcheth Methodist Church and Churches Together.
It is hoped to attract up to 1,000 pupils from Year Six up to 18-years to a day starting with a bouncy castle, bucking bronco, gladiator duelling, etc, moving on into workshops on a variety of interests and finishing with a barbecue and rock music.
More than 20 topics will be tackled at the workshops including music, radio, creative writing and sporting activities.
Main sponsor of the event is Taylor Business Park, but many other local businesses are offering support, as well as Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council, the police and local schools.
The barbecue and many of the fun activities will be held on the village green but workshops and other activities will be at the Methodist Church, High School, Culcheth Sports Club, the Scout Hall and other venues.
David said: “Many local businesses have kindly donated time and money to make the day a success, as well as the local churches who are offering buildings and people power.
“We hope that the young people will have a great day and even learn things about themselves they never knew before.”
Live bands appearing in the evening include the Blackout Crew.
Pupils at Culcheth High School or any of the local primary schools can obtain forms from school to attend any of the workshops. Pupils from schools in other areas can get a form by contacting David on 07870 498284.
