MEMBERS of a high school band have been presented with new shirts – thanks to a local accountant.
Culcheth High School Swing Band – which has helped put Warrington on the map with its European tours – has been given the shirts by Nigel Healey, managing director of Hunter Healey chartered accountants.
Musical director Mark Peacock said: “It was a very generous offer from Nigel and his company and was gratefully accepted as the students were looking to buy their own shrts.
“Nigel’s daughter, Ruth, has played in the band on saxophone for several years and will be leaving to study at Durham University from October, but Nigel was delighted he could be of assistance to the school and the band.”
The band was been on several European tours, has made four CDs and given many concerts locally and nationally.
“They played at the Millennium Dome in 2000, played for the Duchess of Kent in 2004 and appeared on Radio Lancashire in 2002.”
The band will be wearing the new shirts at the school opening evening on October 9.
