Student celebrates exam successes

AN 18-year-old former Warrington college student is celebrating extraordinary examination successes this summer.
Megan Tyler was the top performer nationally in one subject and in the top five for another – and returned to Priestley College to say thanks to her tutors.
She recently received word from the OCR examination body that she had achieved the highest A-Level mark of anybody in the country in Geology.
This followed correspondence received by Priestley from the AQA examination board which also showed she achieved one of the top five marks nationally in Biology.
Meg supplemented her A grades in those two subjects with other straight As in Maths and Chemistry and is about to embark on a challenging degree at Cambridge University where she will tackle the subject of Natural Sciences.
She said: “I was very pleased but a bit surprised about the level of success.
“Cambridge is going to be a very special challenge for me and one that I am looking forward to. The opportunity to meet new people and share common interests in the area of science will be a great experience for me.”
Megan also had a word of praise for those who helped her during the year.
She added: “I really want to thank my tutors at Priestley as my results were merely a reflection on the exceptional quality of the teaching available. My parents were very supportive too throughout a difficult and stressful year.”
At the end of her degree Megan is planning on pursuing a career in genetics.
