Legend makes his debut!

WARRINGTON Town’s new mascot The Legend made his debut at Boteler High School – the home of his
creator 15-year-old Micheala Whitaker.
The Legend, who was designed by Micheala as part of a competition organised by the club, proved to be a huge hit with pupils who were handed free tickets to attend games at Cantilever Park, starting today (Saturday) with the visit of Lancaster City in the Unibond Division One North clash, kick off 3pm.
Micheala will have the honour of leading out The Legend at the game, which will include a community/business networking event prior to kick off.
The Mayor of Warrington Coun Graham Welbourne was on hand to show his support by meeting The Legend at the school, along with the mascot’s sponsor Paul Wenlock from Print Magic and club manager Paul Moore.
Pupils were soon clamouring to get pictures of the mascot on their mobile phones.
“We hope The Legend will become the talk of the town,” said manager Paul.
“He will certainly bring a fun element to the game and I am sure he will be extremely popular with the players.”
Warrington are the first club in the Unibond League Division One North to have an offical club mascot and it is hoped to engage in some friendly rivalry with Warrington Wolves’ mascot Wolfie.
The Legend has already thrown down the guantlet for a penalty shoot out competition at the Halliwell Jones when Liverpool Reserves are back in town next month (October).
The mascot is just one of a number of new initiatives to raise the profile of football in Warrington, with the ultimate aim of having a Football League club in the town.
