Supporters invited to ‘Wire till I die’ launch event

WARRINGTON rugby stalwart Mark Forster is holding a free launch night at the Halliwell Jones Stadium for his new book, Wire till I die – My life in rugby league.

In Wire till I die, Forster looks back on a lifetime in rugby league, from his early days as a choirboy at Warrington Parish Church and an outstanding junior player to the games when his try-scoring exploits made him a Wilderspool hero.

Forster made 458 appearances for the Wolves, more than any many currently alive, and scored 191 tries.

As a teenager he played for Warrington Schoolboys and he represented the town as a ballboy at the 1978 Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

His love of the game meant that he was still playing rugby league as an amateur for local sides – with his two sons – aged 50.

He represented Lancashire, Great Britain and also Ireland at the 2000 World Cup, and he was crowned the fastest man in rugby league in 1986.

The launch event takes place on Wednesday April 20 from 7pm in the Martin Dawes Lounge at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Speakers include Forster himself, Paul Cullen, Paul Sculthorpe and Tony Barrow, and the night will be hosted by Angela Powers from Sky Sports.

Supporters can just turn up on the night.
