Grant is just the cuppa!

AFTER raising enough money to have a new building for a Warrington pre-school group there were just a couple of problems – there was not enough cash for some essentials.
However, an application to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity provided a solution which enabled kettles, a microwave and fridges.
The Village Pre-school Group at Gorse Covert is run by a volunteer committee. For the last 20 years the pre-school group shared room in school but unfortunately could not open as often as it wanted due to constraints on the room usage.
The group applied to the Big Lottery Fund to help raise money for a new build.
The fund granted ?50,000 toward the capital build of ?100,000 the rest having been raised by the group through various sponsored activities and from help from Warrington Council. This left the group with no money at all to buy fridges, freezers, play equipment.
The ?1,200 grant from the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity was used to buy fridges, cookers, kettles and display boards.
Jennifer Woodward, chair of the volunteer committee, said: “Without your money the children would have not been able to attend lunch club as we could not have kept their lunches cold. The children could not have made cakes or soup without the cooker and of course they would have not been able to display their work without the new display boards. We are very grateful for the help with our new building.”
Picture shows Assistant Provincial Grand Master Dennis Rudd is pictured helping Jennifer Woodward in the kitchen.
