Warrington Town could win league trophy in front of home fans

WARRINGTON Town could lift the league trophy in front of their home fans following a rescheduling of fixtures, which has now pushed their trip to Radcliffe Borough back a week.

If Warrington Town can get at least a point at third placed Glossop North End next Saturday, it means a victory over Prescot Cables the following Saturday, would see them win the league trophy.

Club Chairman Toby Macormac said: “Due to the inclement weather yesterday that caused postponements its lead to our fixture vs Radcliffe being moved from the 12th to the 19th April.

” In turn this means if we can get a point or more at Glossop this Saturday it will give us a chance to win the league title at home against Prescot on the 16th.

“I can think of no better way to win a championship than in front of our own fantastic supporters. What a great day that could be, hope to see you there to take us over the line and then some celebrations!”

Achieving promotion would create history for the club, taking them to their highest level, in the premier division of the Northern Premier League.

They have already re-written the record books this season, breaking the 100 goals scored in a season barrier, the most league wins in a season and the most points achieved.

The game against Prescot Cables has been made all ticket, with fans snapping up tickets at yesterday’s game when they defeated Brighouse Town 2-0, bringing back memories of their historic FA Cup victory against Exeter City last season.

Tickets will also be on sale at the club tomorrow (Monday) from 8am-8pm and Tuesday 5pm-8pm.
