Playground decision deferred

PLANNERS have put off a decision on a new children’s play area at Lymm because of the bright colour of the proposed play equipment.
Members of the borough’s development control committee deferred a decision on the proposal for land off Millington Gardens, Heatley Mere to have discussions with applicants Countryside Properties over the design of the equipment.
Coun Sheila Woodyatt expressed concern about the scale, colour and type of equipment proposed.
She had no objection to the principle of the play area but believe more rustic play equipment was available that would be more appropriate closed to Heatley Flash, which has nature conservation interest.
The committee play area would be close to the flash, but would be fenced off for safety reasons.
Eight individual letters of objection and a petition signed by 22 people were received by the council.
They raised issues of parking and highway safety, loss of privacy, noise and disturbance and inappropriate design of the equipment in a semi-rural area.

The sooner proper facilities are provided, the better
