Ratchford return boosts Wolves as Gidley sits out

WARRINGTON Wolves have been boosted by the return of Stefan Ratchford to their 19-man squad ahead of Thursday’s clash at Salford.

As expected, veteran playmaker Kurt Gidley misses out having picked up a concussion injury in the win over Wakefield last Friday.

New signing Mitchell Dodds is named in Tony Smith’s squad for the first time having played for the reserves at the weekend, alongside Ratchford and Ben Evans, who is also in contention for a Super League return.

Missing out is talisman Ben Westwood, who has had an operation to remove a floating bone in his ankle.

The Wolves have made a perfect start to the new campaign, picking up wins over Leeds, Hull KR and the Wildcats.

Salford demolished St Helens in front of the Sky cameras in their first home game, and also picked up a win over Widnes a fortnight ago.

Warrington 19-man squad: Atkins, Cox, Currie, Dodds, Dwyer, R Evans, Hill, Hughes, Julien, G King, Lineham, Penny, Philbin, Ratchford, Russell, Sandow, Sims, Westerman, Wheeler.
