Bin fire threatens flat

VANDALS who set fire to a wheelie bin threatened a man’s home at Warrington last night.
The blaze was in Reynolds Avenue and flames spread from the bin to the adjoining flat, damaging a plastic drain pipe and a window frame.
A Fire Service spokesman said it was only by good luck that the fire did not spread to the interior of the property.
He said: “The fire safety message here is that wheelie bins should not be left close to property.”
In a separate incident, vandals dumped a car in Old Alder Lane, Burtonwood and set it alight.
By the time fire crews reached the scene the vehicle was completely burned out.
A spokesman said: “We think it was a Ford Fiesta, but it was so badly damaged it was difficult to tell.”
