POLICE are asking motorists to avoid the A49 Winwick Road, Warrington, this morning because of a road closure following an accident.
Emergency services are at the scene, near the M62 Junction 9.
The southbound carriageway of the A49, towards Warrington was closed.
A police spokesman said the incident was likely to cause traffic congestion. He urged drivers to use natural diversions on the M62, east and west.
The road was re-opened shortly before 8am, but police warned that delays were likely to continue for some time.

I was the victim of this road traffic accident, if the person who stopped on the motorbike comes forward I would like to thank him for his life saving actions raising my head etc.
