A day to remember dignity

A SPECIAL day to serve as a reminder of the importance of dignity for all is being marked in Warrington with a whole host of events.
Monday, February 1, is Dignity Action Day, a national event which gives everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people’s rights to dignity and also provides a truly memorable day for people receiving health and care services.
There are a range of events organised across the town including coffee mornings, tea parties, pamper sessions, a gala ball, arts and crafts.
Cllr Pat Wright, Warrington Borough Council’s lead m ember for health and
wellbeing and adult services, said: “This important day is a reminder that we all have a role to play in ensuring the dignity of vulnerable adults in our community.
“It falls to all of us, not just those who work in health and care settings, to work together to make a difference.”
Baroness Joan Bakewell, dignity in care ambassador, said: “Dignity Action Day highlights a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable
people. The very old and the very young clearly need our respect, but it wouldn’t do any harm to spread the dignity message across the population – then we can all benefit.”
