Running in memory of wife

AN employee from a Warrington-based company is limbering up to take part in the Great North Run to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of his wife.
Andy King, from Birchwood-based Morgan Professional Services, will run the half marathon in memory of his wife Lisa, who lost her battle with the disease last year.
He is hoping to raise £3,000 for the charity and is already well on his way to the target after receiving sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues.
Lisa died aged 34, just five months after she was diagnosed with the illness, Andy said: “She crammed an awful lot into those last months, showing astonishing grace and determination. Lisa was an incredible mother to our two children, Theo and Libby, and we all miss her desperately and can’t quite grasp that she isn’t here anymore.”
The Great North Run will take place on October 5 with runners tackling a 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields.
Andy added: “Cancer is a truly horrible disease which will affect one in three people at some stage in their life.”
“We all need to do more to help prevent it, support patients and fund research. That’s why I’m running the Great North Run in aid of Cancer Research UK, the charity which is at the forefront of cancer research. Cancer is likely to affect us all at some stage, either touching us directly or affecting someone close to us.”
