POLICE have confirmed a Warrington man who went missing following flash floods in Scotland has been found “safe and well.”

It had been feared that Terence Kilbride had been swept away when a river burst its banks during flooding, when two bags containing his belongings were found near the scene.

Police divers were called in and a public appeal drew a huge response, with several reported sightings.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that Terence Kilbride, 48, has been traced safe and well in Aberdeen.

“The public are thanked for their assistance in tracing him.

“We received an overwhelming response from the public, which was greatly appreciated.”

Mr Kilbride had been reported missing on January 4.
