WARRINGTON Wolves’ only pre-season friendly at the Halliwell Jones Stadium takes place on Sunday, January 24 when the Wolves take on Leigh Centurions in the MBS Site Supplies Challenge Cup in a testimonial game for Simon Grix.

The Rugby Football League awarded the Wolves’ and Ireland international a 12 month testimonial in recognition of his long and illustrious career, good character and service to the community both within and around rugby league.

He started his professional career at Halifax, making his debut for Warrington in April 2006. Grix proved himself to be the ultimate utility player, being able to play in numerous different positions throughout his career.

Grix, 29, made his Wolves debut back in 2006 making 179 appearances for the club, scoring 48 tries.

He was released from his contract at the end of last season, but has remained with the Wolves as part of the performance team.

A fractured ankle sustained against St Helens in September 2014 kept him sidelined for the entire 2015 campaign, and his rehabilitation continues.

MBS Site Supplies MD Carl Oates said: “We are delighted to be supporting Simon who has been a great club servant to Warrington. We wish him well throughout his testimonial season and hope the warrington public turn out in force to show their appreciation.”

Tickets for the game which kicks off at 3pm are priced at £20 for the North Stand, £15 concessions and £5 for children or £40 for a family of four.

All other stands are £15, £10 for concessions, £5 children and £30 for a family of four.
