WARRINGTON Wolves have announced Chris Hill as club captain for the 2016 season.

In his role as vice captain alongside Joel Monaghan last season, Hill made 34 appearances in the Primrose and Blue, bringing his total to 132 since making his Wire debut in 2012.

This off-season saw Hill represent England in the Autumn Internationals, taking to the pitch in all three tests against New Zealand.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “Chris has been a leader at the club for a number of seasons. We see on a week to week basis his leadership qualities out on the pitch. However, his attitude towards training and how he conducts himself off the pitch is also first class.

“Although Chris will be named as captain we have a number of other players who provide fantastic leadership and will support Chris in his role.”

Hill added: “I feel immensely proud to be appointed as the captain of this great club. There have been a number of great leaders and captains who have gone before me so to be added to this list is quite humbling. There are a great number of leaders within the group so, no doubt, throughout the year they will all have valuable input and hopefully support me in this role.”
