THE Trans Pennine Trail, of which Warrington Borough Council manages an 11 mile stretch, has been recognised at a national awards ceremony.
It was congratulated at the prestigious British Horse Society annual awards in London for its dedication to improving the lives of horses.
Warrington Borough Council’s Ranger Service manage the 11.5 mile-long Warrington stretch and host a range of events on the trail and across borough throughout the year.
This year’s programme is being finalised and will be available soon and the Rangers are working closely with locally based Sustrans volunteers who help out across the National Cycle Network.
The Trans Pennine Trail runs from coast to coast across the north of England and two thirds of it are  available to horse riders.
Cllr Hans Mundry (pictured above), the borough council’s lead member for highways, transportation and public realm, said: “I’m thrilled to see that the Trans Pennine Trail has been recognised at another awards ceremony having just recently being voted as the UK’s favourite long distance National Cycle Network route.
“With the Ranger Service set to launch more events and activities along the route this year, the Trans Pennine Trail offers something for everyone.
“The trail is suitable for people of all ages and abilities and I’m pleased to hear that it’s not just humans who enjoy the route!”
