Text message will get you a vote

A SIMPLE text message is all it will take for local residents to vote at the next local election after the borough council has introduced a hi-tech way of registering for the right to vote.
The service will be available for this year’s annual canvass for the Register of Electors, meaning residents can confirm their details at the cost of a normal SMS.
This service will be available to those whose details haven’t changed and will run alongside the current system of confirming information by phone or online.
The telephone and Internet services can be used to apply for a postal vote or to “opt out” of the edited version of the register.
Anyone wishing to change their details can do via the normal method of posting.
All systems are fully automated and available 24-hours a day.
