A 14-year-old schoolboy from Warrington has won a place in the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Lucas Boylan, from Walton, has been playing the tuba for five years and attends Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester.
He said: “I am really excited to be part of the National Youth Orchestra because it means I get to attend residential courses in different parts of the country and perform at major venues, such as the Barbican Centre in London.
“It is widely seen as the world’s greatest orchestra of teenagers and I will join 162 other teenagers from all over the country to take part in this exciting orchestra.
“The age range for joining the National Youth Orchestra is 14 to 19 and I’ve had to work hard to get a place at 14”
Lucas had to compete with more than 700 other children across the country to get his place.
