MEMBERS of a neighbourhood police team in Warrington are celebrating an almost 30 per cent reduction in crime during July.
Figures released by the Warrington East Neighbourhood Police Team show a 29.8 per cent reduction in crime in the area for the month, compared with the same period last year.
Sergeant Graham Waring said: “We have continued to target our most prevalent offenders and have worked closely with our partners to identify emerging behaviour to intervene before it becomes criminal. Our visibility remains key to pursuing further reductions and works in conjunction with crime reduction plans put in place.”
A recent example of active police patrols occurred on Friday, July 25, when two officers, PCs Gareth Yates and Richard Whitehead, caught a moped rider using the vehicle illegally.
They also found the rider to be carrying a firearm with blank ammunition.
