A HOME baker from Golborne has been featured as one of the top entries in a national baking competition.

Fiona Cullen, 41, baked a cake in the shape of a teapot and box of chocolates as her entries into National Accident Helpline’s #UnderdogCakeOff competition.

She said: “I have been baking cakes for 8 years and started when I wanted to make my sons birthday cake so I taught myself how to do it through books and online tutorials.

“My son is now 13 and has had a cake every year

“I now make cakes for friends and family (and friends of friends) in my spare time. A lot of time in the kitchen covered in flour.”

The #UnderdogCakeOff competition, which asks adults to bake a cake around the theme of recovery, will be open for new entries until November 23rd. Prizes include a Fortnum and Mason hamper.
