DRIVING instructors and learner drivers in Warrington have been taking part in the “Big Learner Relay” – helping to raise more than £90,000 nationally for Children in Need
Instructors and their pupils around the country have worked together to carry a Children in Need Pudsey top box from one lesson to another over nearly 3,000 miles.
Despite wind, rain and fog over 15 dayhs, the learner drivers have driven the various legs of the relay brilliantly.
The Big Learner Relay arrived in Warrington from Old Trafford, travelling along the A56 and A49 on a wet and windy day6.
A number of Warrington-based instructors took part.
Instructor Paul Carr said: “I had the honour of being the ‘lead’ vehicle carrying the specially commissioned Pudsey Bear roof box into our town.
“The instructors involved have raised this incredible amount by a variety of methods including covering their vehicles in coloured spots for sponsorship, conducting lessons in fancy dress, raffle sales for free lessons among just a few.”
The Tom Grainger School of Motorist donated 15 hours of free training, split into three blocks of five hours.
Raffle tickets are still being sold to find the three winners.
