£1 million revamp for four gyms

LEISURE and lifestyle group LiveWire is investing more than £1 million to install state-of-the-art equipment into four of its gyms across Warrington.
Broomfields Leisure Centre,  Birchwood Tennis and Leisure Complex, Woolston Neighbourhood Hub and Culcheth Community Campus will all be given a revamp in time for the New Year.
A new layout and design of the four fitness suites will mean there is more space for functional training, a type of exercise which involves training the body for activities performed in everyday life.
The functional training zone will also support a new timetable of short 15 minute workouts on the gym floor, led by one of LiveWire’s Health and Wellbeing team.
New internet enabled cardio equipment will be fitted with the innovative
digital platform, mywellness cloud so customers can use fitness apps like Strava and MapMyFitness to track their progress or check in on social media during their workout.
The mywellness cloud system will give members the real advantage of being
able to access their gym programme through a website when they’re at home so they are able to keep tabs on their fitness.
Top-of-the-range spin bikes and the latest free weights will also be part of the investment, with the brand new equipment being provided by Technogym, the company who were responsible for kitting out the training centres during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Technogym will also provide exercise equipment in the new Great Sankey
Neighbourhood Hub, set to open next year as part of a £16 million development to revamp the existing leisure centre.
To allow for the installation of the new equipment, a staggered closure will take place at each fitness suite for a few days during December. Customers will be notified of the ongoing timescales of the works in November.
LiveWire managing director Jan Souness said: “We recognise the importance of continually investing in our gym equipment to provide our customers with the latest technology to help improve their fitness and wellbeing. The scale of the refit means we will have to close each fitness suite for a few days but we will do our best to minimise the disruption by offering
members access to other sites across Warrington.”
