NEARLY 100 angry protesters packed out Warrington Town Hall to witness council chiefs throw out plans for another takeaway shop.
Councillors refused the application for the fast-food shop on Orchard Street in Fearnhead without even hearing any of the objectors speak.
A similar plan for a neighbouring property had been thrown by councillors a matter of weeks ago.
This allowed the development control committee to reach its decision of refusal without further debate.
This was the sixth application to build a takeaway on Orchard Street since 1983, all of which have been unsuccessful.
Ward councillors Scott Wilson and Colin Oliver objected to the plans, along with 83 residents and Poulton-with-Fearnhead parish council.
They believed introducing the shop would increase anti-social behaviour by teenagers congregating outside, cause extra traffic and litter problems, and, be detrimental to the amenities of the area.
The applicant planned to open seven days a week until midnight.
Planning officers had recommended the scheme be approved.
