THE Post Office at Warrington’s Callands local centre is to be upgraded and modernised as a “new main-style branch.”
It will close on Monday, October 12 for refurbishment and will re-open at 1pm on Thursday, November 5.
The new-look post office will open longer hours with a modern, open plan environment.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones (pictured) has welcomed the news.
She said: “The aim is to create a more modern branch which, crucially,  will be open for longer. This is welcome news as it will provide a more convenient and effective service for customers.”
The branch will provide the same products and service as previous, with the addition of caqr tax and a selection of on-demand travel money.
There will be three serving positions – a mixture of screened and open plan and a post office serving point at the retail counter as well as a low level serving counter and a hearing loop.
New opening hours for the post office are 9am – 5.30pm, Monday-
Saturday.
Opening times for the post office services at the retail counter will be from 7am–10pm Monday to Sunday.
