VIDEO:WARRINGTON’S biggest ever festival kick started with a a Cycle Festival at Orford Park, followed by the signing of the Magna Carta at a Medieval Market in the town centre which attracted thousands of visitors.
Leader of the Council Terry O’Neill and LiveWire MD Jan Souness launched the start of three weeks of festival fun at Orford Park Jubilee Hub, which involved a Cycling Festival.
It was then followed by a Medieval Market in Warrington town centre, organised by Warrington Market manager Steve Pickering.
TV presenter and local historian Mark Olly joined proceedings, as one of the market’s longest serving tenants, butcher Roy Sweeney, became the evil King John, to re-enact the signing of the Magna Carta.

Brilliant afternoon at the Medieval Market and WELL DONE to the organisers and everyone else involved in it.
From outside the Market over to Market Gate and down Bridge street and Horsemarket Street was buzzing and a hive of activity with people, stalls, things to see and do and great bands music from the bands too. That’s how Warrington town centre should be. Fab 😀 Gutted I missed the knights on horseback though 🙁 Only criticism was the number of hay bales everywhere for people to sit on. I sat on them too in the sunshine enjoying the music and having a great time but my nose still hasn’t stopped running… I get hay fever, silly me lol
It was great to be involved in such a great day of fun in Warrington Town Centre, kicking off a month of fun through The Warrington Festival
Fantastic event and great to see the town centre buzzing with activity! Keep up the good work.
