What's in a name?

THE name of a popular local facility came into question at a meeting of Stockton Heath Parish Council.
Resident Colin Dakin said in the literature for Stockton Heath Festival, the Mill Lane Field was referred to as Mill Lane Common.
“Is it officially registered as a common?” he said.
Festival organiser Coun Tudor Pole said he had been given the wrong information.
“That is what was given to me. I am sorry if we gave the impression it was a common,” he said.

  1. Perhaps the Parish Council or members of the community should apply for the status of a village ‘common’ as this would protect the field from development and safeguard it as a real community asset.

Have to laugh about the festival organiser being given the wrong info though as being a Parish Council member he should have known what it is as the Parish Council actually OWN the field 🙂

  2. hey, simple mistake hardly newsworthy, just somone trying to score points against a person from a polictical party that they probably don’t support…how shallow. if we could get rid of this sort of thing from politics, real issues could be resolved.

  3. Point scoring and political….get real !!!

As for being newsworthy….. it is for people who live round here.

This was a genuine question rasied by a local resident about the apparent change of name status of the public ‘Mill Lane Playing Field’ to ‘Mill Lane Common’ which was answered accordingly.

Nothing political or malicious in that until you decided there was 🙁

So who is being shallow?……….and yes politics has no place in local issues and it would be nice if local issues were resolved !
