Care home users can have a say

CARE provider HC-One – which runs Callands Care Home in Warrington and 10 others in Cheshire –  has launched a new initiative to receive instant feedback about the quality of care and services being provided in its homes.
This is not just for residents and relatives, but also for staff and visitors.
HC-One has so far installed new user-friendly touchscreen tablet computers in the reception areas of 174 of its homes, an easy and convenient way to provide regular feedback.
Using these tablets, residents, relatives, visitors and staff are able to respond to a series of questions about their experience in the home, such as: whether people receive a warm welcome to the home; whether there is a positive atmosphere in the home; and whether other colleagues are appropriately prepared for visitors.
It will also assess the level of staff support and engagement with residents and the home’s cleanliness.
Since the company began installing the tablets in June, more than 6,500 pieces of feedback have been received across the country.
HC-One’s chairman Dr Chai Patel said: “We have launched this innovative initiative as part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best experience and kindest care for Residents. This scheme will also ensure that our homes are a great place for our dedicated colleagues to work, and for relatives and members of HC-One’s local communities to visit.”
Callands Care Home has 120 bedrooms and caters for dementia, nursing, residential, respite and end-of-life care, as well as specialist care for adults with physical disabilities.
